Boat Repair & Restoration

We are well equipped to handle any structural or cosmetic repairs that your boat might require. However the damage may have occurred- a mishap on the water, storm related, or deficiencies due to the wear and tear that can develop in older boats- we can return your boat to a safe and reliable condition. We have extensive experience in all aspects of fiberglass maintenance, upgrade, and repair.

Sample Project 1: Major repairs and restorations constitute a large portion of our workload here. The first project shown is a "one-off" version of the 30' Leigh built in the area back in the early 1980's. The outer laminate had failed and a good portion of it had been removed before the boat arrived at our shop. The hull was faired using Epiglass Epoxy products and painted with Awlgrip Polyester Urethane Topcoat. The repaired rudder and the rigging hardware was re-installed and the boat put back into service in 2005.

30' Leigh - the loose laminate has been removed and the entire hull surfaced abraded to prepare for the fairing process. 30' Leigh - the finished product being loaded for transport. 30' Leigh - "Joy" headed for the South Shore of Massachusetts.
Sample Project 2: This section shows a small- well used lobster boat that was donated to the Wounded Warriors Disabled Sports Project in 2010 so that they could start a fishing program for wounded and disabled vets. The New England Disabled Sports at Loon Mountain organization, along with other donations, financed the rebuilding of the vessel. Miliner Marine, as well as a number of other local marine contractors and marine equipment suppliers, donated a good deal of the labor and the supplies necessary to complete the project. We repaired and re-glassed the forward and side decks; put in new workdeck supports, a new plywood workdeck which was then fiberglassed, and re-built much of the forward cabin; new bow and stern rails as well as new deck hatches and other hardware and equipment was installed; the decks, cabin, and interior were painted with Brightside Polyurethane and the workdeck with Interlux Interdeck non-skid coating.

Sample Project 3: This is from the winter of 2004/05 and is a 41' Defever trawler with delaminated decks. To access the rotted core on the lower decks and forward cabin roof we had to remove the teak decking and the outer laminate. The core was replaced with 12mm marine meranti plywood, glassed with fiberglass cloth set in West System Epoxy, and brush painted with Awlgrip Polyester Urethane. The non-skid was done in Awlgrip as well. Additional work included installing a Side-Power bow thruster.
